The Rotary Club of North Rockland proudly donated $2,300 to the North Rockland Central School District towards the purchase of 660 books for 3rd grade students in the district. Each 3rd grade student will receive a copy of The Invisible String, a relatable and reassuring contemporary classic which explores love as the invisible string which binds us all together.  On February 12th and March 7th, Rotary volunteers will be reading portions of the book to these students in school before they take home their copy.  NR Rotary has had a longstanding tradition of working with the school district. In the past, we donated dictionaries to students. With the increasing use of online dictionaries, we looked for new ways to encourage literacy and the habit of reading for enjoyment.  We are overjoyed to be continuing this tradition again this year.

Our donation this year was assisted by a generous grant of $1000 from Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. ("O&R")   The grant was presented to our club by Mr. Matthew Mariconi , Corporate Affairs Manager of O&R, pictured below along with Club President Joseph Truhon. We thank O&R for this generous grant!
