North Rockland High School Interact Club and North Rockland Rotary Club Cooperate to Donate Christmas Toys for Needy Rockland Children

The North Rockland High School Interact Club is donating 170 toys to needy Rockland Children this Holiday Season. The Children's Assistance Program at Rockland County Social Services picked up the Gifts from The Interact Club on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 for distribution to children who live with their grandparents or single mothers.
The North Rockland High School Interact Club lost its traditional mall-based Holiday Gift Wrapping Program and created a new Holiday Event for 2007 to lift the spirits of needy Rockland Children. The 40 members of the Interact Club, with support from National Rotary Interact and The Rotary Club of North Rockland, raised nearly $1,000, then purchased, wrapped and delivered 170 gifts for Rockland Children.
On Friday evening, December 14, 2007 The 40 Interact Club Members along with guests from the Rotary Club of North Rockland enjoyed pizza and soft drinks as they wrapped and organized the 170 toys for distribution by age group and gender. The teamwork, energy, and desire to make a difference by The Interact Club demonstrated a concern for the community, and desire to succeed that is not often communicated to the general public.
Rotary Club President, Miguel Roman said "The future certainly looks excellent for our community when you see the strong moral value and desire to succeed that this group of young people possess.
Vice President of the North Rockland Rotary Club, Gary Mower, a long term Rotarian and Garnerville resident added: "It would be wonderful if groups of students like these received more public recognition in the Media. Their generosity, concern and team spirit are inspirational; especially for us in the community who do not have the opportunity to frequently see or work with our youth."
Interact is Rotary International's service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. The North Rockland High School Interact Club meets monthly to plan and support school and community focused events.
