Rockland Family Shelter Valentine's Day Donation

North Rockland Rotarians learned that sometimes, the simplest gifts are the most needed and treasured. Donations included socks, cleaning supplies, shampoo, tooth brushes, phone cards, crayons, coloring books, games and toys, just to name a few. Today's busy life style often forgets that a small item or donation can mean so much to a needy individual or organization. Beyond receiving and managing the donations, The Rockland Family Shelter sees that abused Mothers and Children are housed in safe and nurturing environments and helped to find new options for a better, tranquil life. North Rockland Rotary Club members began collecting needed items and cash donations in January. On Thursday, February 18, 2010, the last collections were brought to the North Rockland Rotary Club Meeting at Noel's Restaurant in Stony Point, and then delivered to The Rockland Family Shelter by Ms. Crannage, who initiated the drive, and delivered donations to RFS. The Rockland Family Shelter was founded in 1979. It is a not for profit organization dedicated to serving domestic violence and sexual assault victims and their families. Through direct services, education, advocacy, agency consultation and leadership in coordinated community action, the organization works to create a community where women and children can live with dignity and equality, free from abuse.
